Monday Motivation: Rebirth

Human beings are not born once and for all on the day their mothers give birth to them, life obliges them over and over again to give birth to themselves – Gabriel Garcia Marquez, 1000 Years of Solitude

This quote has stayed with me through quite a few decades of my life.

It has obliged me over and over to give birth to myself…

Through the trials and the fires of my life, I have been forged into something new. Each phase of growth finds me but a new incarnation of me. I am reborn through pain and through joy. I am not the same, awkward girl from Queens that I use to be. I am not the same brand new mother that I was in my twenties.

I am something else and something new and I have given birth to myself countless times, through countless phases and stages of my life. This time is a time of rebirth and growth and that is the theme of our motivation this week.

Give birth to something new, to yourself over again, to an idea, a hope, project, passion, something and let it grow!

This quote feels so appropriate in so many ways. After a long, cold, hard, and complicated winter, life is obliging us once more to recede from the darkness and head to the light. To once again bask in the sun and be refreshed and renewed!

In this new month at the beginning of this brand new week, I hope we can all re-imagine ourselves past any hardships or pain that still remain.

This week I hope we can unpack some luggage and lighten our loads.
